NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Bates College field hockey team earned a 2-1 victory against Connecticut College in a NESCAC Field Hockey game played on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Saturday.
The Bobcats improve their record to 3-7 with a 1-6 mark in league play, while the Camels fall to 3-4 (1-3 NESCAC).
Senior Bridget Meedzan (Ipswich, Mass.) scored the game tying goal with 1:56 left in the first half. Junior Jillian Conway (Andover, Mass.) assisted senior Sarah Warden (North Andover, Mass.) for the goal that proved to be the difference. The goal occurred 4:25 into the second stanza and was executed on one of the visitors' four penalty corners in the contest.
The Camels held an 18-to-4 advantage on penalty corners but the shots were even at 10 aside.
Senior Becca Otley (Cumberland, Maine) stopped nine shots en route to the victory for the visitors.
Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) made four saves in 56 minute of action for the Camels. Jeannette Hoets (Westport, Conn.) stopped three shots in relief duty.
