#11 Trinity College 7, Connecticut College 1  Wells Buries Penalty Stroke for Camels

Hartford, Conn. - (Trinity College) First-year forward Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) scored three goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Trinity College field hockey team past Connecticut College, 7-1, on Saturday in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action at Sheppard Field. The win marked the fourth straight for the Bantams who improved to 11-3 overall and 7-2 in league play, while the Camels dropped their second consecutive game to fall to 5-9 on the year and 1-8 in conference tilts.

Junior goalkeeper Sophie Fitzpatrick (Duxbury, Mass.) made six saves to earn the victory in the cage for Trinity. On the opposite end, sophomore Ryley van der Velde (Louisville, Ky.) turned aside seven shots in a losing effort for Conn. College.

Finn opened the scoring just under five minutes into play deflecting a Nikki Rivera (Rockaway, N.J.) shot past van der Velde. Through the remainder of the first half the Bantams added two goals as first-year forward Brenna Hobin (Madison, Conn.) and junior midfielder Elizabeth Caporale (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored to give Trinity a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second half, Camels sophomore defender Maggie Wells (Darien, Conn.) scored  on a penalty stroke to cut the Trinity to just two with 25 minutes left in regulation. After the Connecticut College tally, the Bantams turned it on ending the game on a 4-0 run to seal the victory. Down the stretch, Finn scored two goals and Rivera and sophomore Samantha Sandler each added one goal. Sandler's marker was her second of the year and came on a penalty stroke to close out the scoring.
