NEW LONDON, Conn.--Senior forward Casey Brown (Lafayette, Colo.) had two goals and two assists to lead the Hamilton College field hockey team to a 4-3 victory in overtime against Connecticut College Saturday.
With the win, the Continentals improved their record to 5-2 with a 2-2 mark in the NESCAC while the Camels fell to 1-6 with a 0-4 record in conference action.
Eva Rosencrans (Greenwich, Conn.) chipped in with a goal and an assist. She supplied the game-winning marker 1:53 into the overtime session.
Rookie net-minder Julia Booth (Greenwich, Conn.) stopped 21 shots to keep the Continentals in contention.
Connecticut College first year forward Jamie Navoni (picture, Natick, Mass.) had a nice day for the Camels, leading the hosts with two goals scored.
Sophomore Katlyn Paiva (Rehoboth, Mass.) had a goal and an assist for the hosts.
Connecticut College junior Ryle van der Velde (Louisville, Ky.) made five saves in the setback.
The Camels carried a two-goal advantage into the break but Brown scored back-to-back goals for the visitors in a 3:33 span of the second half to tie the game. Hamilton took a 3-2 lead when Brown assisted Aubrey Coon (Taberg, N.Y.) with 12:04 to go.
But the Camels continue to play spirited ball and with 7:16 to go, Navoni took a feed from Paiva and scored to even things up at three.
However, in the extra session, the Continentals were able to cash in on a penalty corner. Brown made a nice centering pass to Rosencrans, who rifled home the game-winner, her team-leading seventh score of the season.
