GILBERT, Ariz. – Connecticut College field hockey defenders Jacqueline Murphy (Danvers, Mass.) and Berklee Vaillancourt (Manchester, N.H.) are among 72 student-athletes who have been selected as either participants or alternates for the 2017 Victory Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Game.
The contest, which will take place during the same weekend as the Division III Final Four, will be played at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 5:00 p.m. Murphy was selected as one of 60 participants, while Vaillancourt was tabbed an alternate.
Murphy started every match over the last four years for a Camel defense which has blanked nine opponents, including four this past season. She also finished her career with 17 defensive saves, which included registering two in the program's 1-0 victory over then-No. 8 Hamilton on Sept. 23. She also garnered NESCAC Player of the Week laurels thanks in large part to her efforts in the triumph against the Continentals.
Vaillancourt has been equally as important to the team's success on the back line. Like Murphy, she started all 15 games this past season and most notably registered a key defensive save in the win against Hamilton. The senior ended her career with three defensive saves while making 48 appearances and 40 starts over the last four seasons.
