HADLEY, Mass. – Connecticut College senior field hockey captain Jacqueline Murphy (Danvers, Mass.) has been named to the All-NESCAC Second Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. The defender is being recognized for the first time of her career.
Murphy started every match over the last four years for a Camel defense which has blanked nine opponents, including four this past season. She also registered five defense saves this fall and most notably had two in the program's 1-0 victory over then-No. 8 Hamilton on Sept. 23. The senior ended her career with a school-record 17 defensive saves and is the first Camel to earn NESCAC postseason laurels since defender Andrea Hoisington made the all-conference second team in 2013.
In addition, Murphy is one of 60 student-athletes in the country who have been selected to participate in the NFHCA Senior Game. She will make her final appearance as a collegian when the event is held in conjunction with the Division III Final Four in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 5:00 p.m.
