NEW LONDON, Conn.—Williams College skated to a 3-1 victory against Connecticut College in a NESCAC game played at Dayton Arena Saturday. Sophomore forward David Italiano (Toronto, Ont.) scored a goal and assisted on the two others to lead the visiting Ephs to the win.
Williams improved its record to 5-1 while remaining perfect with a 4-0 mark in NESCAC play. The Camels fell to 1-4-2 and are 0-2-2 in conference action.
Sophomore forward C.J. Shugart (Toronto, Ont.) and Michael Lata (Toronto. Ont.) chipped in with scored for the winning side.
Connecticut College senior forward Tim DiPretoro (Philadelphia, Pa.) potted his third goal of the season in the setback. Junior Joe Giordano (Ellington, Conn.) and senior Sebastian Meltzer (Montreal, Quebec) assisted on the marker.
Williams College rookie net-minder Michael Pinios (Montreal, Quebec) collected 11 of his 22 saves in the second period for the visitors.
Senior Tom Conlin (Norwood, Mass.) finished with 28 saves for the Camels.
Shugart opened the scoring when he caromed a shot off the left post and into the netting with 14:18 remaining.
Alex Hagerty had a great chance to add an insurance goal for the Ephs with 9:43 remaining but Conlin was able to make the save to deny the Ephs on the one-on-one break.
The Camels answered back when Giordano assisted DiPretoro for his goal with 7:17 remaining. But just 15 seconds later, Lata buried a wrist shot to put the Ephs on top for good.
Italiano added an insurance goal with 3:12 remaining and the visitors were able to hold on for the 3-1 win.
