NEW LONDON, Conn.—Thomas Lindstrom (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored his second goal of the day just 1:22 into the extra session to lift the Amherst College men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory at Connecticut College Sunday.
Amherst improved its record to 5-5-4 and are 4-2-3 in NESCAC play with its second straight win while the Camels fell to 3-9-2 with a 0-6-2 mark in conference action.
Patrick Arena (Mount Hermon, Mass.) scored his second goal of the season for the winning side.
Senior net-minder Dave Cunningham (Arlington, Mass.) made 12 saves between the pipes to secure the victory for the visitors.
Senior net-minder Tom Conlin (Norwood, Mass.) made 30 saves for the hosts.
Lindstrom vaulted Amherst out to a 2-0 lead when he netted a shorthanded marker 1:34 into the second period. But the Camels battled back when they took advantage of their power play mid-way through the third period. Junior Greg Liautaud (Butler, N.J.) cycled the puck out to the point for Evans, who unloaded with a blast to make it a 2-1 game. Then, with just 42 seconds left, the Camels scored the equalizer. Liautaud collected the puck on one side of the net and fed DiPretoro on the opposite side, who flicked in his eighth goal of the season.
But Lindstrom was able to net the game-winner 1:22 into the overtime to lift the visitors to the win.
