NEW LONDON, Conn.--T.J. Sherman (St. Louis, Mo.) scored 2:42 into the extra session to lift the eighth ranked Trinity College men's hockey team to a 4-3 victory against Connecticut College on a snowy Saturday night in New London.
The Bantams improved their record to 12-3-1 and are 8-2 in NESCAC play. The Camels fell to 3-11-2 (0-8-2 NESCAC).
Junior forward Ethan Holdaway (Glastonbury, Conn.), Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.) and Ben Hjalmarsson (Stockholm, Sweden) all contributed with goals for the Bantams. Junior forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) and Anthony Sabitsky (Sicklerville, N.J.) had two assists each for the winning side. Sophomore net-minder Alex Morin (St. Hubert, Quebec) collected 12 of his 24 saves in the opening period of action for the visitors.
Connecticut College senior Tim DiPretoro potted his team-leading 10th and 11 goals of the season in the setback. Jon Paris (Hailey, Idaho) scored his second goal of the weekend. Senior Tom Conlin (Norwood, Mass.) finished with 25 saves in the loss.
DiPretoro forced the third tie of the game when he one-timed one past Morin with 9:11 remaining in regulation.
In the overtime period, the Camels were awarded a power play but Trinity gained control of the puck in the neutral zone to create an odd man rush. Orlando made a nice feed to Sherman through the slot, who went up to the top shelf for the game-winner.
The Bantams held a slim 29-to-27 advantage on the shot chart.
