NEW LONDON, Conn.—Sophomore forward Jason Brochu (Saint-Bruno, Que.) potted his ninth goal of the season with just .2 seconds remaining to lift the Hamilton College men's hockey team to a 2-1 victory against Connecticut College at Dayton Arena Friday night.
The ninth ranked Continentals improved their record to 14-3-4 with an 8-3-4 mark in NESCAC play, while the Camels slipped to 4-14-2 with a 2-11-2 record in conference action.
Junior forward Brandon Willett (Toronto, Ont.) scored the equalizer for the Continentals with 5:50 remaining in the first period. It was his team-leading 12th goal of the season. Junior net-minder Evan Buitenhuis (Burlington, Ont.) made 17 saves between the pipes to earn the victory for the visitors.
Connecticut College sophomore forward William White (Frisco, Texas) potted his third goal of the season 10:48 into the opening period. Sophomore Kevin Doyle (Orleans, Mass.) had the assist on the score.
Rookie net-minder Avery Gobbo (Mississauga, Ont.) continues to develop his game in the collegiate ranks and finished with 32 saves in an impressive effort between the pipes.
Hamilton held a 34-to-18 advantage on the shot chart. The Continentals will head north to Tufts University tomorrow for a 4:00 p.m. game in Malden, Mass.
Connecticut College will host Amherst College here in New London for a 3:00 p.m. game. The program will salute its five seniors in a pre-game ceremony. Fans should plan on arriving at least 30 minutes ahead of face-off time to enjoy the festivities.
