NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior forward Joe Giordano (Ellington, Conn.) potted the 18th goal of his career with 1:19 remaining in the second period but it was not quite enough as Amherst College was able to come away with a 2-1 victory here at Dayton Arena today.
The Purple and White improved their record to 12-6-3 with a 7-6-3 mark in conference play, while the Camels fell to 4-15-2 with a 2-12-2 record in conference action.
Sophomore forward Max Roche (Chicago, Ill.) potted the difference making goal with 13:54 remaining in regulation with A.J. Klein (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Joey Lupo (St. Louis, Mo.) earning the assists on the score. Senior Brian Belisle (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman Dan Driscoll (Salem, Mass.) earned the assists on Giordano's goal in the middle period.
Amherst College opened the scoring at 9:37 of the first period when freshman Patrick Daly (Hamilton, Mass.) netted his 11th goal of the season. Thomas Lindstrom (Minneapolis, Minn.) and David White (Fairfield, Conn.) assisted on the marker.
Amherst College sophomore goalie Connor Girard (Bloomington, Minn.) made 22 saves to earn the victory for the visitors.
Connor Rodericks (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) finished with 26 stops for Connecticut College.
The Camels honored their five seniors in a pre-game ceremony today. Giordano and Belisle were joined by Student Assistant Coach Greg Liautaud (Butler, N.J.), Ryan Mowery (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and Austin Essery (Rockfall, Conn.) in a pre-game ceremony that recognized the Class of 2017.
