Men’s Ice Hockey Defeats Anna Maria, 4-1, for First Win of the Season

AUBURN, Mass. – Sophomore Matt Creamer (Warwick, R.I.) registered a goal and an assist and freshman Colin McCabe (Pembroke, Mass.) factored into three markers to lift the Connecticut College men's ice hockey team to a 4-1 win over Anna Maria on Sunday evening at Horgan Arena.

The Camels got all of the scoring they needed as well as insurance in the opening period. After the teams exchanged goals in the opening 10 minutes, the visitors netted back-to-back markers in a span of 44 seconds. Creamer, who opened the scoring by finishing a pass from freshman Steven Senese (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) at the 5:34 mark, set up freshman Anthony Quatieri (Peabody, Mass.) for a go-ahead marker in the 14th minute. Sophomore Kyle Moss (Sutton, Mass.) then fired home a feed from McCabe to give the team a two-goal advantage and more than enough of a cushion to hold on to for the remainder of the game.

Junior Avery Gobbo (Mississauga, Ontario) picked up the victory between the pipes by making 35 saves for Connecticut College, which added its final goal in the waning seconds when McCabe scored on an empty net. Patrick McGuane of Anna Maria (2-5-2) turned away 26 shots in the losing effort.

Connecticut College (1-3) will continue a four-game road stretch when it visits Middlebury on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
