Jim Ward enters his 12th season as head coach of the Camel men's hockey program.

In 2014, Ward was honored by his coaching peers as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Coach of the Year.

Ward engineered one of the greatest turnarounds in recent history as the Camels rebounded from a 0-7 start to post a record of 9-7-2 over the final two months of the season.

Under Ward's direction, the Camels made three consecutive appearances in NESCAC Championship Tournament between 2007-2009. The team finished above .500 in the league for the second consecutive year (9-7-3) in 2008-2009, posting a 9-2-2 record on its home ice.

Ward has been educating and coaching the sport of hockey for 28 years. As an assistant at Princeton University in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Ward contributed to all phases of a competitive Division I hockey operation, with particular emphasis on recruiting and coaching defense. Prior to joining the Princeton staff, he spent seven years at the Northfield Mount Hermon Preparatory School in Mount Hermon, Mass. Ward directed the men's hockey program, worked in the college counseling office, and taught biology at the preparatory school.

Before joining Northfield Mount Hermon, Ward spent four years as a lead assistant coach at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. He played a pivotal role in the elevation of the Union program from the Division III level to Division I status. He also spent three years as an assistant at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. During his first season, Ward helped lead the Cadets into the NCAA Tournament.

A 1985 graduate of SUNY-Geneseo, Ward earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his master’s degree in athletic and physical education administration at Norwich University in 1987.
