Surging Camels Host Babson Tuesday at 4 on Freeman Field

It's that special time of year when the Freeman Field fanatics can get outside enjoy lacrosse the way it was always played on natural grass. When the 20th ranked Camels (7-2) host Babson College Tuesday afternoon at 4, it will conjure up fond memories for the Dachille family. Bacon on March 25, 2009, USILA All-American Steve Dachille '10 erupted with eight goals to tie a school record in a 22-5 victory against Babson.

Babson (5-5) just dropped 20 goals on Manhattanville and is led by senior Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I) who has accounted for 20 goals, 18 assists and 38 points.

The Camels are right where they want to be as they head down the home stretch, Winners of five consecutive games, Head Coach Dave Cornell's Camels have out-scored the opposition 53-to-33 during their current winning streak.

Senior Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) has accounted for 26 goals and nine assists to lead the club with 35 points.  Chad Sawyer (Northfield, Ill.) has netted 21 goals to go with five assists for 26 points. Pat Leary (Cheshire, Conn.) has chipped in with 10 goals and six assists.

Senior specialist Brendan Schrader (Annapolis, Md.) has won 57% of his face-offs (79-for-138) to go with 35 ground balls.  Sophomore Jack Griffin (Seaford, N.Y.) leads the club with 47 ground balls.

The starting defensive trio consisting of Brogan O'Connor (Haverhill, Mass.), Mike Brennan (Chester Springs, Pa.) and Kieran Morris (Ridgewood, N.J.) has gelled in the Camel backfield.

Rookie net-minder Bobby Bleistein (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) registered a 7.10 goals against average to go with a .600 save percentage in two starts between the pipes last week. Bleistein stymied a UMass-Dartmouth offense Tuesday, limiting a Corsair offensive attack that is yielding 10.3 goals per contest to just five goals with an 11 save effort. Friday night, Bleistein held a high powered Montclair State University in check that averages 13.25 goals per outing to just nine scores in an 11-9 triumph.

Bleistein recorded seven of his 10 saves in the second half of action in the inaugural Friday night game on the Silfen Turf Field. Bleistein is 6-2 in his rookie season between the pipes with a 7.20 goals against average and a .642 save percentage.
