NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Connecticut College sophomore attackman PJ Kelleher of Walpole, Mass. has been honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week.
Kelleher opened the week by setting a single-game scoring record with 13 points to lead the Camels past MIT in a 25-12 triumph. Kelleher tied a school record with eight goals, assisting on five others to lead the Camels past the Engineers. He added three goals and an assist in a 12-6 win against Roger Williams Friday night. He is tied for first in the NESCAC with 20 points.
"PJ is a very hard-working young man," Connecticut College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Dave Cornell said. "He prepares himself not only with his stick skills and in the weight room but is a student of the game as well with regard to film. He has definitely earned this early-season success."
Kelleher posted 29 points in his rookie season for the Camels last spring, finishing up with 16 goals and 13 assists.
The Camels (2-1) are scheduled to play Illinois Wesleyan in Baltimore, Md. At 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night. They will return home to face conference rival Williams College Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. game here in the Whaling City.
