Camels Set to Clash with #2 Bates on Senior Saturday in the Whaling City

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men's lacrosse program will host second ranked Bates College tomorrow afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. NESCAC game on Freeman Field.

The Camels (7-6, 3-5 NESCAC), ranked #10 in New England, have scored 29 goals during their current two-game winning streak. Junior All-American Ben Parens (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) is ranked #8 in the nation at the X with a .705 winning percentage and is 16th in the country with his 8.92 ground balls per game.  Sophomore PJ Kelleher (Walpole, Mass.) has posted a team-best 42 points with 19 goals and 23 assists for the Camels. 

Connecticut College will also be saluting its eight seniors in a pregame ceremony: Maximilian King (Andover, Mass.); Kevin Schirmacher (Massapequa, N.Y.), Timothy Covel (Cheshire, Conn); Alex Calabro (Newton, Mass.); Jake Bank (Scarsdale, N.Y.); Mack Dowling (Darien, Conn.); Ross Thompson (Mahopac, N.Y.) and John Cunningham (Cheshire, Conn.).

Under the direction of Head Coach Peter Lasagna, the undefeated Bates Bobcats (11-0, 8-0 NESCAC) have received 10 first place votes in this week's USILA National Poll.  Bates is averaging 16.64 goals per game and is coming off of a wild 19-18 shootout victory at #3 Tufts Tuesday. 

Senior midfielder Charlie Fay (Falmouth, Maine) has accounted for 41 goals and 13 assists to lead the team with 54 points. Kyle Weber (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) has chipped in with 38 goals and 11 assists for 49 points. Senior attackman Andrew Melvin (Medfield, Mass.) has registered 39 points with 17 goals and 22 helpers.

Bates senior defender Charlie Gravina (Fair Haven, N.J.) has corralled 23 grounds balls and leads the NESCAC with his 22 caused turnovers. 

Freeman Field on Tempel Green is located on the College's main campus, nestled between the Cummings Art Center and Jane Addams dormitory.
