NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior All-American Ben Parens of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. has been named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England First Team.
Parens has been honored on the All-NESCAC squad in each of his first three seasons of action for the Camels He enjoyed another terrific season at the X where he ranks third in the conference with 254 face-off wins and 127 and ground balls. He won 24-of-27 face-offs with 14 ground balls to spark the Camels in a pivotal late-season 13-12 triumph at Hamilton April 15. On the fifth of April, Parens helped lead the Camels past intra-state rival Trinity in the Capital City of Hartford, winning 16 of his 22 match ups at the X while adding 11 ground balls.
Parens is ranked 11th in the nation with a .688 winning percentage and is 16th in the country with his 8.47 ground balls per game. He has moved into second place on the program's all-time list with his 355 ground balls and needs just 74 more to pass Chris Perkins as the Camels' all-time leader.
Under the direction of Head Coach Dave Cornell, the Camels made their seventh appearance in the NESCAC Championship in the past eight years.
