NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior faceoff specialist Ben Parens (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) added to his growing list of accolades by being named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Honorable Mention selection, as announced by the organization.
Parens is earning national recognition for the third straight season from the USILA, marking the first time a Camel has achieved the feat since Tim Boyd was a USILA All-America Honorable Mention selection in 1999, 2000 and 2001. This past spring, he ranked second in the NESCAC in faceoff wins (205) and third in ground balls (120) to help the program register its highest overall and conference win totals since 2013. The senior ended his career with 868 faceoff wins to go along with 28 goals, three caused turnovers and a school-record 475 ground balls. Parens also made the All-NEILA Second Team and was awarded the institution's Anita L. DeFrantz Award as the best male athlete in the senior class.
Connecticut College (10-6, NESCAC 5-5) graduates eight seniors and is slated to return more than 30 letterwinners next spring.
