Hawkey Named to NSCAA All-Region Team for Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior Billy Hawkey of Pennington, N.J. has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New England Region Team.

Hawkey was previously honored as a first team selection on the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) squad back in November.

Connecticut College Head Men's Soccer Coach Kenny Murphy was pleased with Hawkey's performance in 2012.

"Billy has progressed with his game since his freshman year," Connecticut College Head Men's Soccer Coach Kenny Murphy said.  "It is validated with his recognition by our conference and regional coaches."

Hawkey had five goals and two assists to lead the team in scoring with 12 points this fall. Head Coach Kenny Murphy's Camels finished with a winning record for the third time in the past four years (5-4-6).

Hawkey scored the difference-making goal in a victory at Wesleyan University October 17 as the Camels defeated the Cardinals for the first time since 1998. He scored both goals in a 2-1 triumph against UMass-Dartmouth September 26.

In the classroom, Hawkey has excelled as a Dean's List Student. Carrying a major in psychology, Hawkey has been honored for his excellence in the classroom on the NESCAC All-Academic Team.

Hawkey has been selected a captain for the 2013 campaign.
