KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophomore goalkeeper AJ Marcucci (West Chester, Pa.) and senior midfielder Ben Manoogian (Peabody, Mass.) headlined a list of five members of the Connecticut College men's soccer program who received All-New England Region laurels by the United Soccer Coaches. Marcucci landed on the first team, while sophomore defender Liam Donelan (Milton, Mass.) earned a place on the third team.
Marcucci, who was also named the 2018 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, ranks among the top five goalkeepers in the country with a .928 save percentage and an 0.28 goals against average. He also recorded 11 clean sheets this season to bring his career total to 17 through two seasons. In addition, Marcucci is the first player since 2000 to win the NESCAC's top rookie and player awards in consecutive seasons.
Manoogian, a team captain, is being recognized for the second straight year with all-region accolades. He contributed five points and most notably two game-winning goals against NESCAC opponents. Donelan significantly contributed to a back line which only surrendered five goals all season.
By being placed on the third team, Marcucci and Manoogian are now eligible for United Soccer Coaches All-America recognition.
