NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men's swimming team is headed to Wesleyan University to compete in the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championship this weekend.
Under the direction of Head Coach Marc Benvenuti, the Camels have placed third at the conference championship in each of the past four seasons. The team has placed in the nation's top 25 in each of the past six seasons and that included a 20th place finish at the 2016 NCAA Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Competing in the conference championship in his home state for the first time, junior All-American AJ Pite (Orange, Conn.) should have plenty of support from his followers and fans in the Nutmeg State when he looks to defend his NESCAC Crown in the 400 yard individual medley. Senior All-American Mike Fothergill (Medford, Mass.) placed second in both the 50 yard free and the 50 yard back at last year's championship. Classmate Loring Bowen (Summit, N.J.) placed second in the 50 yard fly as well as the 200 yard backstroke at the 2015 Championship in Middlebury, Vt.
All of the action gets underway Friday in Middletown, Conn.
