Under Benvenuti's direction, the Camel men have finished among the nation's top 25 in each of the past five seasons, including a program best 12th place showing at the 2014 NCAA Championship.

In 2011, the Camel women placed 14th in the nation with a score of 69 points. The Camel women secured a 16th place finish at the 2014 NCAA Championship.

Benvenuti has been honored as the NESCAC Swimming Coach of the Year on five occasions, three times for the success of the women's program and twice with the men.

Benvenuti joined the Connecticut College program after serving as the lead assistant swim coach at Princeton University. At Princeton, he was responsible for the sprint program and contributed to a Tiger squad that posted a lofty 17-2 (.894) mark in the Ivy League. Four of his swimmers advanced to the NCAA Championships and one qualified for Olympic competition in Sydney, Australia.

Benvenuti earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Tufts University. As one of the Jumbo's most successful swimmers, Benvenuti set many pool records and still holds a number of them today, including the 50 yard Butterfly and the 200 yard Medley Relay. A five time All-America selection at Tufts, Benvenuti has already left his mark as one of the top swimmers in NESCAC conference history.
