EASTON, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's tennis team opened its fall season at the Stonehill Doubles Invitational on Saturday morning. Two of the Camels' four pairs won their draw.
Junior Guillermo Garcia-Rincon and senior Will Cannon (Fairfield, Conn.) teamed up to win from the No. 1 position. They defeated pairs from Colby-Sawyer, 8-3, in the quarterfinals, Stonehill by an 8-2 outcome in the semifinals, and Coast Guard by an 8-7 (5) score in the finals.
In addition, freshman Julian Tien (Barrington, R.I.) and sophomore Henry DeCoster (Greenwich, Conn.) were victorious from the No. 2 spot. The duo defeated Eastern Nazarene, 8-1, in the quarterfinals, Assumption by an 8-4 score in the semifinals, and Coast Guard, 8-2, in the championship round of its draw.
Connecticut College will next cohost a tournament with Coast Guard on Saturday, Sept. 15.
