Camels Place Ninth at 11 Team NESCAC Championship

SOMERVILLE, Mass.--Junior All-American Mike LeDuc (Canton, Conn.) posted a time of 9:03.50 to place second in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2013 NESCAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Tufts University Saturday. 

LeDuc will earn All-NESCAC Honors when it is formally announced this week. It was a strong showing for the Camels, who placed ninth in the 11 team field with a score of 20 points.

Tufts University scored 213 points to win the NESCAC Crown. Bates College placed second with a score of 166 points. 

In the distance medley relay, the Camel quartet consisting of Tristan Cole (St. Helen, Calif.), Ian Rathkey (Old Lyme, Conn.), Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Mike LeDuc set an outdoor school record with a time of 10:13.26 en route  to their fourth place scoring.

Devon Latrell (West Newbury, Mass.) threw the javelin 170 feet, four inches in a fifth place showing, earning an invitation to the New England Division III Championship. Nick Hofffman-Klaucke (South Chatham, Mass.) covered a distance of 165 feet, seven inches to finish eighth in the javelin thrown. 

In the 800 meter run, Tristan Cole qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship with a time of 1:54.70 in a seventh place scoring for the Camels.

Mike Joyce (Wallingford, Conn.) earned an invitation to the New England Division III Championship with a time of 10:01.25 for the Camels. 

In the 4x100 meter relay, Chris May (Hudson, Ohio), Dan Gossels (Sudbury, Mass.) Nick Fischetti (Groton, Mass.) and Ian Rathkey posted a season-best time of 46.66 for Connecticut College.
