LeDuc Moves to #1 on National Performance List with Victory in 3000 Meter Run

MEDFORD, Mass.--(Photo of Niall Williams Provided by Kevin Morris/Kevinmorris.com) Connecticut College senior All-American Michael LeDuc of Canton, Conn. posted a time of 8:23.56 to win the 3000 meter run at the Tufts University Invitational Saturday.

LeDuc's time was a school record and ranks #1 on the national performance list. He has qualified for the All-New England, New England Division III and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.

Competing in the same event, freshman Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 8:49.74, earning an invitation to the New England Division III and ECAC Championships for Connecticut College.

The Camels placed ninth out of 13 teams with a score of 46 points.

In the one-mile run, Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) placed second with a time of 4:27.05.  Billy Barnes (New York, N.Y.) posted a time of 2:00.01 to finish third in the 800 meter run.  In the 600 meter dash, Ian Rathkey (Old Lyme, Conn.) finished fifth, qualifying for the New England Division III and ECAC Championships with a time of 1:25.10.

Zander Mintz (East Windsor, N.J.) placed fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:32.85. Classmate Alejandro Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) logged a time of 16:45.33 to finish in eighth place for the Camels.

In the 4x800 meter relay, Niall Williams, Billy Barnes, Brad DeMarco (Weston, Conn.) and Drew Majkut (Upton, Mass.) teamed up for a third place finish in 8:28.03.

Senior Chris May (Hudson, Ohio), Ian Rathkey, Geoffrey Pendergast (Weston, Mass.) and Aaron Davis (New London, Conn. posted time of 3:39.99 en route to their seventh place scoring.

The Camels will return to the Bay State next weekend to compete in the Terrier Classic at Boston University.
