LeDuc Wins New England Division III Crown in 1500 Meters for Connecticut College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--(Frank Poulin Photo of Michael LeDuc) Connecticut College senior Michael LeDuc of Canton, Conn. posted a time of 3:51.13 to win the New England Division III crown in the 1500 meters at Springfield College Saturday.

LeDuc set a school record with the win, leading the Camels to an 18th place finish with 15 points.

MIT won the New England Division III Championship with a score of 159.83 points.

Nick Fischetti (Groton, Mass.) set another school record for the Camels en route to his seventh place scoring in the decathlon, tallying 5329 points for Connecticut College.

In the 4x800 meter relay, Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.), Brad DeMarco (Weston, Conn.) and LeDuc teamed up for a sixth place finish with a time of 7:54.30.

All of the aforementioned student athletes garnered All-New England Division accolades for scoring in the championship.

The Camels had other notable performances in the championship. Williams and Bosworth finished with respective times of 3:58.09 and 3:59.35 in the 1500.

Ian Rathkey (Old Lyme, Conn.) logged a time of 1:58.64 in the 800 meter run.  In the 4x400 meter relay, Chris May (Hudson, Ohio), Rathkey, Aaron Davis (New London, Conn.) and Dan Burns (Alexandria, Va.) posted a time of 3:34.31 for the Camels.
