NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior Raymond Rich-Fiondella (pictured, North Haven, Conn.) posted a time of 9:54.24 to win the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Coast Guard Invitational today. Rich-Fiondella earned invitations to the NESCAC as well as the New England Division III Championship with his performance.
The Camels placed seventh in the 11 team field with a score of 50 points.
Connecticut College place third in three events today. Junior Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.) posted a time of 3:57.39 in the 15000 meters to qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the NESCAC and the New England Division III Championship for the Camels. Senior Dan Gossels (Sudbury, Mass.) was third in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:04.58. He qualified for the New England Division III and the NESCAC Championship. In the 4x400 meter relay, Blake O'Neal (Houston, Texas), Christian Whitaker (Dolton, Ill.), Arlo Siegel (Florence, Mass.) and Andrew Peterson (Wallingford, Conn.) posted a time of 3:30.66 for the Camels.
The Camels placed fourth in three events today. In the 200 meter dash, Whitaker crossed the finish line in 23.29 seconds. Sophomore Connor Trapp (Wilmette, Ill.) posted a time of 1:57.63 in the 800 meter run. Chris Conner (Glastonbury, Conn.) covered a distance of 38 feet, 10 and one quarter of an inch in the triple jump.
Senior Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) placed sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.26 to qualify for the NESCAC Championship. In the 4x100 meter relay, O'Neal, Nick Fischetti (Groton, Mass.), Siegel and Whitaker posted a time of 45.37 seconds to place sixth for the Camels.
Freshman Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) posted a time of 4:11.13 to finish eighth in the 1500 meter run.
The Camels had two more NESCAC qualifying performances today. Senior Sam McKeown (South Windsor, Conn.) posted a time of 2:03.65. Alejandro Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) qualified in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:59.34 for the Camels.
