NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College sophomore Connor Trapp (pictured, Wilmette, Ill.) posted a time of 4:00.23 to place second in the 1500 meter run at the Amherst College Invitational today. Trapp earned invitations to the NESCAC and New England Division III Championship with his performance.
The Camels scored 24 points as a team to place ninth in the nine team field.
In the 4x800 meter relay, Trapp, Price Day (Harvard, Mass.), Jordan Comeau (Winchendon, Mass.) and Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.) placed third with a time of 8:04.86 for the Camels. Bosworth was fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.61. He qualified for the NESCAC and New England Division III Championship with his run.
The Camels added a trio of fifth place scorers in Western Massachusetts today. Senior Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) earned invitations to the NESCAC and New England Division III Championships with a time of 15:29.99 in the 5000 meters. Freshman Mike D'Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) threw the javelin 156 feet, two inches. In the triple jump, Chris Conner (Glastonbury, Conn.) covered a distance of 40 feet one half of an inch for Connecticut College.
In the 800 meter run, Price day posted a time of 1:57.49 to qualify for the NESCAC and New England Division III Championship.
In the 1500 meters, Jordan Comeau (4:10.55), Sam McKeown (South Windsor, Conn. 4:14.26), Alejandro Hernandez (Miami, Fla. 4:18.13) and Kyle Hawk (Napa, Calif. 4:19.31) all had their ticket stamped for the upcoming NESCAC Championship in Amherst April 30. In the 5000 meters, reigning NESCAC men's track performer of the week Raymond Rich-Fiondella (North Haven, Conn. 15:41.19), Dan Gossels (Sudbury, Mass. 15:48.89) and Russell Adam (Cheshire, Conn. 15:49.06) all earned invitations to the conference championship. Conner posted a mark of 18 feet, nine and three quarters of an inch to qualify in the long jump.
