WASHINGTON. Pa.--The Connecticut College Camels finished their weekend tournament at Washington & Jefferson College with a 15-12 win over the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College. Senior Carlos Heros led the way for the Camels on the offensive end with seven goals, followed by Junior Stephan Cress with four goals. Junior Isaih Porter and senior Dylan Pinckert also contributed to the victory with two assists a piece.
The Camels came out with an aggressive offense in the first period of the game with an early lead of 4-1 over the Fighting Scots with goals from seniors Heros (2), Pinckert and Henry McMillan. In the second period, the Camels strengthened their lead to 10-5 with goals from Heros (3), Cress, McMillan and freshman Arturo Freitas.
In the second half, the Camels were able to maintain their lead, though the Fighting Scots pushed to close the gap and stay in the game. In the fourth quarter the Camels came out firing with four goals, along with two key ejections drawn by Heros. The Camels saw lots of help on the defensive end with big saves from both Matthew Wagman and Jake Smith with five saves each. The game finished with the Camels toping the Fighting Scots 15-12.
The Camels finish Divisional play with a 4-2 record and will be the #3 seed in the MAW Division Championships.
Connecticut College finished the league tournament 3-1 with wins over Mercyhurst, La Salle, and Monmouth. The Camels will return to Pennsylvania October 22 and 23 to compete in the CWPA Division III Championship in Erie.
