NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's water polo play wrapped up a busy weekend with a 17-10 loss to Gannon on Sunday morning at Lott Natatorium.
Gannon (19-0) broke out to a 7-1 advantage after the first quarter and never looked back. Riley Hinkley scored two straight goals in the game's opening 90 seconds before Lucas Petzold made it 8-1 in the early stages of the second quarter.
Connecticut College (4-18) came within six on two occasions, which began with a strike by freshman John Krill (Stamford, Conn.) to create a 9-3 score, but the Golden Knights shook off any rally attempt. The margin grew to as many as eight, and the visitors eventually ended the tournament on a high note by posting a seven-goal victory.
Connecticut College will next trek to Erie, Pa. to compete at the Mid-Atlantic West Division Championships. The two-day event begins on Saturday, Nov. 3, and matchups as well as game times will be determined later this week.
