HANOVER, Ind.--Connecticut College senior All-American Michael LeDuc of Canton, Conn. posted a time of 25:22 on the 8k course at Hanover College to win the Division pre-national race Saturday.
The Camels placed sixth in the 19 team field with a score of 178 points. Connecticut College finished ahead of ninth place Wabash College, the 12th ranked team in the nation.
The Camels were also just two points behind Centre College, the top ranked team in the South Region.
Loras College scored 66 points to win the Invitational.
"I thought we ran really well today," Connecticut College Head Coach Jim Butler said over the phone in the Indianapolis airport. "Our entire top five ran really well. Mike ran a very controlled race. But believe it or not, we still have not gone to the well yet with him. Dermody (Patrick) really picked us up today also. I'm very proud of his performance."
Patrick Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) placed 12th for the Camels with a time of 26:06. Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) posted a time of 27:28 en route to his 52nd place finish. Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.) logged a time of 27:35 en route to his 56th place showing.
Zander Mintz (East Windsor, N.J.) finished in 72nd place with a time of 27:47. Raymond Rich-Fiondella (North Haven, Conn.) was next with a time of 28:12 in 100th place. Michael Joyce (Wallingford, Conn.) posted a time of 28:36 to finish in 121st place for the Camels.
