NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's cross country team competed at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Camels placed fourth among 40 scoring teams in the men's 8,000-meter varsity race and were led by junior Scott Mason (Wyndmoor, Pa.) and sophomore Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.). Mason placed fourth in 25:30, while Aschale was fifth among a field of 315 racers by hitting the tape right behind him in 25:30.2. Senior Connor Trapp (Wilmette, Ill.), who studied abroad this past spring, was impressive in his first race back by finishing 29th overall in 26:17.6, while junior Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) and sophomore Josh Simensky (Falmouth, Maine) placed 37th in 26:28.1 and 87th in 27:35, respectively, to complete the team's top five.
UMass Lowell placed first by edging out runner-up Brandeis by three points, while Babson's Matthew Dynan won the individual crown by crossing the line in 25:22.7.
In addition, the Camels had a group that competed in the subvarsity race during the day. Freshman Ethan Milsark (Northampton, Mass.), who was running his first 8,000-meter race at any level, paced the squad by finishing 11th overall in 27:45.
Connecticut College, which is ranked eighth in the New England region by the USTFCCCA, will next trek to Lehigh to compete at the prestigious Paul Short Run on Friday, Sept. 29.
