INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Connecticut College junior Scott Mason (Wyndmoor, Pa.) will compete at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the North Farm Facility in Elsah, Illinois.
Mason, a transfer from Lehigh, will compete in the event for the first time and qualified by placing second among a field of 370 competitors at the NCAA New England Regional Championships this past weekend. The junior punched in an 8,000-meter MARK of 25:24.3 and also finished in the runner-up spot at the NESCAC Championships on Oct. 28 to help the Camels place fourth as a squad and match their best finish in program history.
In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals must qualify in their respective NCAA regions. Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large. Fifty-six individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.
Principia College is hosting the championships on Nov. 18 at the North Farm Facility in Elsah, Illinois. The men's race will begin at 12:00 p.m. EST followed by the women's race at 1:15 p.m. EST.
