CRANSTON, R.I.--(Rob Migliaccio Photo from the Sherman Hoyt Regatta) The Connecticut College coed sailing team competed in the Sherman Hoyt Trophy Regatta at Brown this weekend.
The Camels scored 215 points to place ninth in the 18 team field of competition. The Big Green from Dartmouth College scored 124 points to win the regatta. The Brown Bears placed second with a score of 155 points.
Senior skipper Hugh MacGillivray, Eliza Garry and Austin Smith scored 93 points to lead the Camels with a fifth place finish in the A Division. In the B division, rookie skipper Carter Pemberton, Albert Rodiger, Gwynie Dunlevy and Cooper Nefsky scored 122 points en route to their ninth place finish in the Ocean State.
"Hugh and Eliza paved the way to our success this weekend with their top five finish at Brown," Connecticut College Head Sailing Coach Jeff Bresnahan said. "Their leadership and championship experience will continue to play a key role in the success of our team this year."
The Camel women's sailing team made the trip north to the Granite State of New Hampshire to compete in the Mrs, Hurst Bowl on Lake Mascoma. Connecticut College placed 16th in the 17 team field with a score of 404 points. The Coast Guard scored 147 points to win the regatta. The Rams from Rhode Island placed second with 154 points.
