Coed Sailing Wins Hap Moore Team Race; Women Compete at Sister Esther Open

The Connecticut College sailing programs competed at two more regattas over the weekend.

The coed team won a head-to-head tiebreaker against Boston College, which has captured the team racing national title in its storied history, after two days of racing to finish first among eight scoring teams. Skippers Hugh MacGillivray, Walter Florio and Carter Pemberton as well as crew members Liz Davis, Erin Smith and Cecilia Moreira all contributed to the team victory.

The women's program visited Newport, Rhode Island to sail at the Sister Esther Open hosted by Salve Regina and placed 10th among 20 scoring teams. With an extremely strong current creating challenging starts due to the full moon, Emilia Clementi, Katherine Rodger and Smith overcame the adverse sailing conditions and were the top Camel trio by placing seventh in the A Division.

The Camels wrap up the fall season next weekend when the women's program hosts the ACC Regatta on the Thames River.
