NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College sophomore Payton Ouimette of Medfield, Mass. has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Ouimette averaged 18.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in a 2-1 week for her squad. Ouimette exploded with a career-high 32 points in an 84-75 victory against Roger Williams and posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in 25 minutes of action in a 61-51 triumph Drew. She finished the week shooting 58.8 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line.
"Payton had an impressive week in helping us go 2-1 against three tough opponents," Connecticut College Head Women's Basketball Coach Brian Wilson said. "She had the best offensive performance of her young career against Roger Williams with 32 points on only 14 attempts. She was incredibly efficient all week, shooting well over 50% from the floor and 80% from the free throw line. This is a well-deserved honor and we are excited for Payton that the conference recognized her performance as Player of the Week."
Ouimette is fourth in NESCAC scoring and rebounding with 12.3 points and 8.7 boards per game. Ouimette was also honored on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Honor Roll for the Camels.
