Colby College 56 Connecticut College 41 Hynes Nets 12 Points for Camels in Rematch of 2016 NESCAC Quarterfinal

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Haley Driscoll had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and the Colby College women's basketball team had a huge rebounding margin in a 56-41 victory over Connecticut College in NESCAC play Friday.

The Mules improve to 11-11 overall and 3-6 in the conference, while the Camels drop to 16-7 and 4-5 in the league. Colby plays host to Wesleyan University (1-8 NESCAC) in the final regular season game at 3 p.m. Saturday. Connecticut College heads to Bowdoin College for a 3 p.m. game. The Mules are one of five teams with 3-6 records in the league. Colby had a 46-25 rebounding advantage, including 17 offensive boards. 

Driscoll also had four steals and blocked a shot, while Emily Davis added 12 points and five rebounds. Katie McCrum scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds, MK Caverly had eight points and six assists, Caitlyn Nolan went 2-for-4 from 3-point range for six points, and Ainsley Burns had two blocked shots to go with five rebounds.

Mairead Hynes scored 12 points to lead the Camels. Liz Malman finished with seven points, Meg Corcoran had six points and six rebounds, and Caroline Pangallo had six points. Samantha Ashton led the Camels in assists with three. 

With the score tied 4-4, the Mules went on a 14-4 run the rest of the way to take an 18-8 lead after one quarter. Neither team shot well in the second quarter, but Colby extended the lead to 31-19 at the break.

The Camels could never get closer than 10 points in the final 20 minutes of play.
