WORCESTER, Mass.--Steph Izzi (West Cornwall, Conn.) potted a pair of goals to lead the Connecticut College women's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over the College of the Holy Cross Tuesday night in Worcester, Mass.
Lily Connolly (Duxbury, Mass.) netted her fourth goal of the season to go with one assist while second year skater Ashley Anctil (Manchester, Mass.) added her second goal of the season in the third period.
The Camels remain undefeated with a record of 3-0-3. The Crusaders slipped to 7-2-1 with the loss.
The Crusaders held a 9-to-5 shot advantage in the opening period. But Connolly accounted for the only score in the frame with her marker at 11:29. Michaela Igo (Sandwich, Mass.) and senior tri-captain Amanda Bogue (Glastonbury, Conn) assisted on the score.
The Camels opened the season by killing an impressive 25 consecutive penalties but in the second period, the Crusaders finally ended that streak of excellence when they netted a power play marker at 7:37.
Mackenzie Boardman (Anchorage, Alaska) scored for the hosts with assists coming from Francesca Panarelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Kara Violette (Biddeford, Maine).
But the Camels responded 2:29 later when Izzi put the Camels on top for good with what proved to be the difference maker.
Connolly and Igo assisted on the score.
Anctil tacked on some insurance when she scored on an assist from Cassie Hunter (Gilford, N.H.) with 6:19 to play.
Izzi scored an empty-net goal with 32 seconds left to close out the victory.
Senior Kelsie Fralick (West Chester, Pa.) collected 15 of her 29 saves in the third period for the Camels.
Alexandra Stevenson (Norwood, N.Y.) made 19 saves for the Crusaders.
