NEW LONDON, Conn.--Michelle Meggiolaro (Whippany, N.Y.) scored with 27.8 seconds remaining to lift the Manhattanville College women's hockey team to a 4-3 victory at Connecticut College Tuesday night.
The Valiants evened their record at 6-6-4 with the win, while the Camels fell to 9-4-3 with the setback.
Meggiolaro buried a penalty shot with 10:44 remaining to trim the visitors deficit to 3-2 before Melissa Hauptman (Smithtown, N.Y.) evened the score at 11:37 of the period with a wrist shot from the left point.
Ekaterina Nikonova (Lybertcy, Russia) finished with 32 saves in the victory for the visitors.
Sophomore Katherine Chester (Mendham, N.J.) made 19 saves for Connecticut College.
The Camels scored the only goal of the first period. Sophomore Ashley Anctil (Manchester, N.H.) stuffed home a rebound on Lauren Bishop's (Wellesley, Mass.) shot from the point. Julie Beattie (Livonia, Mich.) earned the second assist on the score.
The visitors evened things up at one apiece at the 3:30 mark of the second period. Alla Traun (Edina, Minn.) collected a loose puck in a scramble out in front of the goal and flicked it in.
But the Camels regained the lead 1:40 later when Kate Kohl (Chelmsford, Mass.) put in her sixth goal of the season. Beattie and Leigh Getz (Clifton Park, N.J.) assisted on the marker. Connecticut College built a 3-1 advantage in the early stages of the third period.
Connecticut College held a 35-to-23 advantage in shots. The Camels were a perfect 2-for-2 on their penalty kill and finished 1-for-3 on their power play.
