NEW LONDON, Conn.--Sophomore Kate Kohl (pictured, Chelmsford, Mass.) scored a second period goal but it was not quite enough as Amherst College secured a two-game series sweep with a 4-1 victory against Connecticut College at Dayton Arena Saturday.
Lynndy Smith (Glendale, Ariz.) had one goal and one assist for the visitors. Erin Martin (Canton, Mass.), Emma Griese (Toronto, Ont.) and Alex Toupal (New Brighton, Minn.) chipped in with scores for Amherst.
Sophomore Sabrina Dobbins (Bedford, N.H.) stopped 24 shots in the victory. Dobbins had 43 saves in the two starts this weekend.
Cassie Hunter (Gilford, Conn.) assisted Kohl on the Camels' power play goal with 3:01 remaining in the second period that pulled the hosts to within a goal.
Connecticut College junior net-minder Katherine Chester (Mendham, N.J.) collected 18 of her 38 saves in the third period to keep the game close until the closing moments. Chester made 69 saves in her first two starts of the season for the hosts.
But with 4:11 remaining, Griese was able to add a critical insurance goal to make it a 3-1 game before Toupal tacked on an empty-netter to close out the 4-1 game.
