NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College forward Jordan Cross of Saugus, Mass. has been honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Hockey Player of the Week.
Cross erupted with three goals and three assists this weekend, leading the Camels to their sixth and seventh consecutive victories and a series sweep of Bowdoin.
Cross had two goals and an assist in Saturday's 4-3 victory against the Polar Bears. She has accounted for 12 goals and seven assists this winter. Cross shares the league lead in first-year scoring at 19 points with classmate Elena Gualtieri.
The Camels have outscored their opponents 24-9 during their current seven game winning streak.
"It's nice to see Jordan recognized for her accomplishments," Connecticut College Head Women's Hockey Coach Kristin Steele said. "She has certainly earned the honor. She has an awareness for finding space in the offensive zone both for her own shots and moving the puck to her teammates. It's exciting to watch Jordan, Stephanie Izzi and Elena Gualtieri become more familiar with each other and create some fantastic scoring opportunities."
Cross and the Camels will close out the regular season this weekend when they visit Hamilton College for a two game series in Clinton, N.Y.
On Saturday, February 27, Connecticut College will return home to host its second consecutive NESCAC Quarterfinal game in New London against an opponent to be determined.
