Women’s Ice Hockey’s Gualtieri and Carbone Earn All-NESCAC Second Team Laurels

HADLEY, Mass. – Connecticut College junior Elena Gualtieri (Rome, N.Y.) and sophomore Ashley Carbone (Wallingford, Conn.) each earned All-NESCAC postseason laurels, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Both players landed on the second team.

Gualtieri, a forward, is being recognized for the first time of her career and currently leads the Camels in scoring this season with 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists. She most notably assisted on two goals and scored the game-winning marker in a 4-3 road win over nationally-ranked Middlebury on Dec. 2 and most recently found the back of the net twice in the team's 3-1 quarterfinal victory over Colby on Feb. 24.

Carbone, a defender, is also receiving postseason accolades for the first time. She has led a back line which has blanked eight opponents and allowed one goal or less on 14 occasions. On the offensive end, the sophomore has set up eight goals this season and most recently assisted on the team's first marker in the 3-1 playoff win over Colby this past weekend.

Connecticut College, which has matched a single-season program record for wins (15), will next face Amherst in the semifinal round of the NESCAC Tournament for the third straight season this weekend. The teams will square off at Middlebury on Saturday, March 3 at 4:00 p.m.
