MANSFIELD, Conn.--Senior Tina Balzotti (Duxbury, Mass.) exploded with five goals while achieving a career milestone by registering her 100th point to lead the Connecticut College women's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory against Eastern Connecticut State University today.
The Camels improved their record to 1-5 with the triumph. The Warriors (6-2) had their five game winning streak snapped with the setback.
Balzotti put the Camels on top for good with 24:42 remaining in regulation when she rifled home her third goal of the day with classmate Lacey Hale (Winchester, Mass.) assisting to make it an 8-7 game. Balzotti has notched 104 points over the course of her career for the Camels with 84 goals and 20 assists.
Hale sandwiched a goal around a pair of assists to finish with three points on the day. Junior Madison Barker (Boston, Mass.), sophomore Jamie Navoni (Natick, Mass.) along with first year Camels Erica Hesser (Rye, N.H.) and Kirby Heffrin (Marblehead, Mass.) all chipped in with single markers for the Camels.
Navoni added five draws, four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while Barker had two draw controls for Connecticut College. Julia Loesch (Charlotte, N.C.) chipped in with two assists for the Camels.
Paige Schneider (East Lyme, Conn.) netted four goals to lead the Warriors in the loss. Michelina Pinto (Groton, Conn.) contributed with three goals and an assist.
Taylor Emmerson (Colchester, Conn.) turned aside eight shots for the hosts.
