Trinity College 4, Connecticut College 1 Nicholson Scores Twice for Bantams

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Andi Nicholson (Grafton, Mass.) scored a goal in each half Saturday to lead the Trinity College women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory at Connecticut College.

The Bantams, ranked #7 in New England, improve their record to 10-3 with a 6-3 mark in the NESCAC, while the Camels fall to 3-7-3 with a 1-6-2 mark in league action.

Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.) scored her seventh goal of the season while Julia Leahy (Hingham, Mass.) chipped in with a score for the Bantams. Junior Maggie Crowe (Hingham, Mass.) dished out two assists.

Connecticut College sophomore Libby Thomas (Cumberland, Maine) opened the scoring in the 13th minute of action with an assist coming from senior Rebecca Raymond (Lowell, Mass.).

Connecticut College's four seniors: Lowell Abbott (Manchester, Mass.), Aina Torres (Barcelona, Spain.), Julia Byrne (Westport, Conn.) and Raymond were all honored in a pre-game senior ceremony.

With 15:54 remaining in the half, the visitors scored the equalizer when Crowe delivered a long lead pass to Lake out in front of the net for a score. Later on in the 40th minute of play, Nicholson re-directed a shot from Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) at the six yard line that found the back of the net for a goal to put the visitors on top for good with a 2-1 advantage.

In the 55th minute of action, Leahy netted a high arching shot to make it a 3-1 contest. Nicholson closed things out with a nifty 1-on-1 move to make it a 4-1 game in the 64th minute of action.

Connecticut College junior Natalie Signor (Glastonbury, Conn.) played the opening half without recording a save for the hosts. Bella Hall (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) stopped three shots in the second stanza.

Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) finished with four saves for the Bantams.

Shots were even at 10 aside. The visitors held a slim 6-to-4 edge in corner kicks.
