NEW LONDON, Conn.--Kristi Kirshe (Franklin, Mass.) scored a pair of second half goals to lead the 21st ranked Williams College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Connecticut College Saturday.
The Ephs, ranked #3 in New England, improved to 6-1 with a 3-1 mark in the NESCAC. The Camels, ranked #5 in New England, fall to 6-1 with a 2-1 mark in conference action.
Hannah Van Wetter (Lakewood, Colo.) made four saves to earn the victory in goal for the Ephs.
Bryanna Montalvo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) stopped five shots for the Camels.
The Camels held a 6-to-5 edge in shots in the first half but neither side could get on the board.
In the 52nd minute of play, senior Han Tomozawa (Honolulu, Hawaii) played in a nice cross to and Kirshe was able to head it over Montalvo's head into the back of the net.
Williams extended its advantage in the 58th minute when Audrey Thomas (Bellevue, Wash.) scored off of a long cross from Maddie Swarr (Radnor, Pa.).
Just 1:43 later, Williams tacked on an insurance goal. Louisa Costa (Chicago, Ill.) unloaded with a long pass from near midfield to lead Kirshe in all alone in a one-on-one situation against the keeper.
Williams finished with 14-to-10 advantage on the shot chart. Connecticut College held a 7-to-4 edge on corner kicks.
