Norm Riker, Rebecca Raymond & Fran Shields Comment on NCAA Selection

Connecticut College hosted a viewing of the 2014 NCAA Women's Soccer selection show.

Connecticut College Head Women's Soccer Coach Norm Riker, senior Rebecca Raymond and Camel Director of Athletics/Chair of Physical Education Fran Shields commented on what promises to be an exciting week for Camel soccer fans.

Q: Coach Riker, can we get your reaction to your team's selection to the NCAA Championship field.

It's great to see the selection show and see Connecticut College up on the screen. It's just a great milestone for the program so we're really excited about that.  When you get to travel it's a great experience for the team.  We're looking forward to taking the trip to New Jersey. We've obviously have been looking ahead a little bit with some possible matchups. We'll just keep doing our research and make sure that we're ready for Saturday.

Q: Rebecca, this is a great moment for you and the team. What was your response to the official announcement today.

We're just really excited about our bid and this weekend. We are just going to take care of business and that's what it comes down to.

Q: Fran, this is another historic moment for our program. How does it feel to be in the NCAA Championship field again.

It's a wonderful opportunity for our team that's worked hard all year.  Soccer is a very competitive sport nationally so for us to be in this dance is a great thing. I think we've got a really good shot at advancing. It's just a thrill to have the College represented in this great tournament. All of our New York and New Jersey alumni will be there. It will be great. We might even look into student transportation as well.
