Ballo, Davidson Lead Camels Past Vassar

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's squash team (3-3) secured an 8-1 victory against Vassar in Luce Field House this weekend.

The Camels also dropped 7-2 decisions to both Tufts and MIT this week and lost a 6-3 decision to Mount Holyoke.

In the victory against Vassar, the Camels took straight set wins from the second through the ninth slot on the ladder.

Sophomore Mawa Ballo (pictured, Harlem, N.Y.) posted an 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 win at number two. Aaliyah Davidson (New Haven, Conn.) secured an 11-6, 11-8, 11-4 victory at number three. In the fourth slot on the ladder, Olivia Silverman (New Canaan, Conn.) coasted to an 11-5, 11-3, 11-8 triumph. Nina Nalle (Merion, Pa.) chipped in with an 11-6, 11-2, 11-3 victory in the sixth slot.

Junior Caroline Lippincott (Jamestown, R.I.) and sophomore Allie Fuller (Providence, R.I) both registered 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 wins in their respective slots at number seven and eight on the ladder.

In the ninth slot, sophomore Elizabeth Varoli (Katonah, N.Y.) posted an 11-3, 11-3, 11-7 win for the Camels.

In the loss to Tufts, Silverman shined for the Camels with an impressive 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 win.  Varoli romped in her matchup at number nine against the Jumbos with a convincing 11-1, 11-1, 11-6 victory for Connecticut College.

In the loss at Wellesley, Fuller and Varoli posted straight set wins for the Camels.  Fuller prevailed as the winner at number eight with an 11-8, 11-5, 11-8 triumph while Varoli contributed with an 11-5, 11-2, 11-8 victory in the ninth spot in the line-up.

The Camels will visit Wellesley College Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. match up in Middletown, Conn.
