Ballo, Silverman Lead Camels Past Smith at Pioneer Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Mawa Ballo (Harlem, N.Y.) romped in an 11-5, 11-1, 11-1 triumph at the slot on the ladder while first year hitter Olivia Silverman (New Canaan, Conn.) chipped in with an 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 victory at number two to lead the Connecticut College women's squash team to a 9-0 victory against Smith at the Pioneer Valley Invitational this weekend.

Under the direction of Head Coach Ted Childs, the Camels (5-8) won all nine points plus an exhibition match up in straight sets.

Aaliyah Davidson (New Haven, Conn.) posted an 11-2, 11-3, 11-2 victory in the third spot in the lineup. Jacqueline Chu (New York, N.Y.) coasted to an 11-5, 11-7, 11-2 triumph at number four. In the fifth slot, sophomore Allie Fuller (Providence, R.I.) impressed with an 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 win for the Camels.

Sophomore Nina Nalle (Philadelphia, Pa.) secured an 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 win at number six. Elizabeth Varoli (Katonah, N.Y.) triumphed with an 11-0, 11-3, 11-5 victory at seven. In the eighth slot, senior Taylor McKee (Dedham, Mass.) posted an 11-5, 11-2, 11-4 win for Connecticut College

Junior Caroline Lippincott (Jamestown, R.I.) prevailed in an 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 blanking at number nine. Senior Tori Allen (Jamestown, R.I.) won her match in convincing fashion at #10, 11-2, 11-4, 11-0.

The Camels also had a clutch 8-1 victory against Haverford. Information for that match will be provided when it is available.

Connecticut College dropped a 5-4 decision to Dickinson College and was upended by the Herons from William Smith, 8-1.

In the loss to the Dickinson Red Devils, Silverman secured a 12-10,12-10,1-11,11-5 win at number two while Davidson contributed with an 11-5,11-6,11-8 shutout victory in the third slot in the line-up. Fuller outlasted her opponent with an 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3 win at number five. Varoli posted an 13-11, 11-4, 11-4 win at number seven.

Davidson provided the major highlight in the loss to William Smith with her 11-4, 11-13, 11-6, 11-7 victory in the third slot on the ladder.
