Women’s Squash Wins First-Ever Epps Cup With 6-3 Triumph Over William Smith

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's squash team defeated William Smith by a 6-3 score to win its first-ever Epps Cup at CSA Nationals on Sunday morning.

Denise Bonilla (New Haven, Conn.) clinched the victory for the Camels, which finished the season ranked 25th nationally by knocking off the defending champions after bettering Boston College and Colby during the three-day championship event. The sophomore defeated Molly Wachter at the No. 4 position by scores of 11-7, 11-6, and 11-9.

Senior Jackie Chu (New York, N.Y.) earned a four-set victory at No. 9 in her final match as a collegian by marks of 11-8, 11-0, 9-11, and 11-2, while freshmen Johanile Hurtado (New Haven, Conn.), Birgitta Salvesen-Quinn (Cambridge, Mass.) and Lili Vazquez (Chicago, Ill.) as well as sophomore Noelle Giuliano (McLean, Va.) all captured their individual matches as well.

Connecticut College (8-10) graduates one senior and is slated to return more than 10 letterwinners next season.
