Connecticut College 173, Middlebury College 121 Urban, Haskell, Lead Camels to Season Opening Victory in New London

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's swimming team secured a 173-121 victory against Middlebury College at Lott Natatorium Saturday.

Senior All-American Valerie Urban (Lancaster, Pa.) paved the way to the victory. Urban notched wins in both the 500 and 1000 yard free with respective times of 5:15.60 and 10:36.22. In the 200 yard butterfly, Urban triumphed in 2:11.27. 

Sophomore All-American Olivia Haskell (Norwalk, Conn.) posted winning times of 54.42 seconds and 1:58.75 in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events.  In the 100 yard backstroke, Danielle Fergus (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) prevailed as the victor in 1:01.10.

Lily Gribbel (Pleasanton, Calif.) won the 50 yard freestyle in 24.98 seconds.  Julia Klier (Cohasset, Mass.) triumphed in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.81. In the 200 yard breaststroke, Mary Erb (Readfield, Maine) coasted to a victory in 2:24.82. 

The Camels won both relays today. In the 200 yard medley relay, Fergus, Erb, Gribbel and Haskell triumphed in 1:49.61.

Haskell, Juliette Lee (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.), Katie Hammond (Sea Girt, N.J.) and Gribbel won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.56.
