NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team closed out its fall campaign by hosting an invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Stephanie Simon led the way for the Camels by emerging as a champion in both singles and doubles play. She was victorious at No. 2 singles by earning an 8-4 victory over Nathanson of Nichols and teamed up with senior Aleksandra Drljaca to post an 8-4 win against Nathanson and partner Ashley Dallaire in the final round from the No. 2 doubles spot. Sophomore Alexandra Waldman dominated the No. 8 singles bracket by registering 8-0 and 8-2 wins, respectively, over Kristina Domantas of Nichols and Meghan Lewis of Holy Cross.
Other notable winners included senior Angelica Warren and junior Mariah Warren in singles play as well as sophomores Rachel Weiss and Hayley Zukerberg in doubles action. Angelica Warren captured the No. 3 singles bracket with an 8-4 win over Tess Lubin of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, while Mariah Warren took No. 7 singles by notching an 8-6 win versus Dallaire of Nichols. Weiss and Zuckerberg triumphed at No. 3 doubles by an 8-3 decision over Andrea Valencia and Makenzi Herbst of RPI.
Connecticut College resumes play this spring when it hosts Bentley on Friday, March 30 at 3:30 p.m.
